We needed a name, despite our best efforts to not have one. You should have heard our first name.We take our name and our place in the world seriously and deeply to heart. We are here with a peaceful and welcoming Jewish ethos, coupled with the fierce strength we know to be true of our dyke spirits. Blended together with a very intentional comma, we are Shalom, Dykes.

Spelled incorrectly, it is a a long wall or embankment built to prevent flooding from the sea. Otherwise, you tell us.

We have a leadership team of nearly 20 badass Jewish dykes representing many backgrounds, opinions, and skillsets.

Not if by “political” you mean in the sense that we organize petitions, set up meetings with elected officials, or hold rallies relating to elections—whether in relation to America, Israel, or any other issue.

We stand firmly with the definition of Zionism supported by the majority of Jewish communities, now and throughout history: a movement for a safe haven in our ancestral homeland, in Israel. What that means to you, and to everyone in our community, has a huge spectrum. At our core, we believe in queer Jewish safety, community, and political pluralism. We prioritize being a safe space for Jews who have been made unsafe in other queer spaces since (and before) October 7th.
